St Mary of the Assumption has stood on Abercromby Street since 1842 — a place of prayer, sacrament and quiet welcome for the people of Glasgow's East End.

Often known as St Mary of the Assumption, our parish sits on Abercromby Street in Glasgow's East End. On 15 August 2009 the church was created Pro-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Glasgow during a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Mario Conti, and served as Pro-Cathedral until 10 April 2011 when St Andrew's was reopened.
Today St Mary of the Assumption remains a parish of the Archdiocese of Glasgow — a Metropolitan See in the West of Scotland in full communion with the Holy See — and a home for the sacramental and community life of the neighbourhood.

"O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick."
Under your protection we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
