R.C.I.A.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Those who prepare to be received into the Catholic Church through R.C.I.A. come from many walks of life, and their ages range from teens to seniors. Meetings for prospective candidates take place in the church from September until Easter. When candidates are ready to make a commitment to the Catholic faith, they are received into the Church at the Easter Vigil.

Music

The Parish Choir

The parish choir leads the sung parts of the Sunday Mass and sings for the great feasts of the liturgical year — Christmas, Easter, and the patronal feast of the Assumption. New members are always welcome.

Pastoral care

Pastoral Services for the Deaf

St Mary of the Assumption is a long-standing centre for pastoral services to the deaf community in the Archdiocese, offering Mass and support in British Sign Language.

Devotion

40 Hours Adoration

Each year the parish keeps the Forty Hours' devotion before the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the high altar — a long tradition of Eucharistic adoration in the Calton.
